Law and Politics

State Assemblyman Gary Hebl will be talking with students about how law and politics intertwine. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the ways you can use your law degree to get started in politics and potentially running for public office.

When and Where: Monday, Oct. 1st, 5:30 p.m. in Lubar Commons (7th floor Faculty Tower). Food will be provided.

Rep. Gary Hebl is a Democrat State Assemblyman from the 46th District. He was elected to the Assembly in 2004 and reelected in 2006. Rep. Hebl also practices law in Sun Prairie. http://www.legis.wisconsin.gov/w3asp/contact/legislatorpages.aspx?house=Assembly&district=46&display=bio

Hope to see you there!

Obama Coming to Madison

Obama will be making a stop in Madison. If you would like to see him speak, take a look at this site. It is a paid event - tickets are $15 for students.

DLSA has no connection to the Obama campaign and does not endorse a particular Democratic candidate.

Welcome Back!!

Welcome back, DLSA!

DLSA Kick-Off
5:30pm Thursday, September 20
Room 5240

Come hear what we're planning for the semester, eat pizza, chat about ideas and meet the 1L class.

We are having a meeting Thursday night at 5:30 that is a general introduction to the Democratic Law Students' Association. We will talk about our coming agenda and plans for this semester and next. We're moving into one of the earliest and most vigorous primary seasons ever and the DLSA will be involved in it through the whole election.

We will also elect a 1L student as a secretary for the organization. This is a voting position on the board of directors so is a great way to get started if you're interested in leadership roles. Responsibilities include taking minutes, publishing them, managing the e-mail list, and posting announcements to the DLSA blog.

We look forward to seeing you all!
