PILF President Katy Ramsey (3L) noted, “Even in a year when we
weren't sure what to expect, I think we can say without a doubt that
Race Judicata was once again a success."

About the University of Wisconsin Public Interest Law Foundation
The University of Wisconsin Law School's Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) is a student run organization committed to supporting law students who want to work in public interest law. Students in PILF work together to organize community events, fund raisers, and social activities. To receive e-mails about PILF's activities, meetings and how to get involved, please e-mail rafeeq@wisc.edu with your full name and e-mail address to be added to the listserve.
Every year UW-PILF offers summer grants to public interest law students working over the summer with traditionally underrepresented members of society. Money for summer grants is raised through several different events, in particular Race Judicata and pledge-a-day. Race Judicata is an annual 5k run organized by the students to educate the community about public service and bring in money for summer fellowships. Every year law students, faculty, and community members participate. Pledge-a-day asks law students working in firms over the summer to pledge one day of their salaries to UW-PILF to fund a public interest law student.
In addition to UW-PILF there are a number of student organizations that bring students together to work on a variety of public interest issues. Some of these groups include the Children's Justice Project, the Environmental Law Society, the National Lawyers Guild, the Immigration Law Students Association, the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Constitution Society, and many more. See individual organizations' sites for further information.
