QLaw is pleased to announce that tickets for Gala 2013 are now on sale.

Tickets are $10 for students and $25 for non-students.  They can be purchased online and will be available in the Law School atrium the week preceding Gala.

Gala 2013 will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the University Club.

Congratulations to our new 1L reps, Katie Domina and Jazmyn Taitingfong!
In addition to helping the board with our usual events and duties, the 1L reps will be making over our bulletin board and planning a social event for the end of the school year.

QLaw will be tabling in the atrium this Wednesday, 10/24, for National Coming Out Month.  Come and visit us for a quick activity, interesting information, and, of course, some candy!

We also voted on our theme of the year, choosing to focus on LGBTQ family formation.  Our tagline for this year will be “QLove: Reframing the Family”.

Our next meeting will also consist of planning for a National Coming Out Month tabling event and a movie/discussion.  More details and a date to follow soon!

Finally, our first social event will be an “aged-grape beverage” tasting on Sept. 21.  Join the Facebook QLaw group to RSVP or drop in at the Barriques on West Washington at 6:30p.

Two scholarships will be awarded to full-time UW Law students at the end of this semester. The first is the QLaw Book Scholarship, with an award of $500; applicants will be asked to submit a 500 word essay focusing on the question of “What does Queer mean to you?”
The second is the Julie Stearns Scholarship, with an award of $1000; applicants will be asked to submit a 1000 word essay explaining how they have contributed to making the Law School more open to the LGBT community.
