The Constitutionality of France’s Ban on the Burqa

On April 11, 2011, France implemented a law that placed a ban on persons wearing any form of face coverings in public, which includes the face veil that some Muslim women wear to cover their faces. This paper argues that France’s new law banning the face veil violates the European Convention on Human Rights.
